2005 Ireland, Galway, Omagh (UK)
In early 2005 I met, through the Comenius program, three charming ladies from Ireland. The result was that I had the summer semester university exams done in record time and then it was just packing and ... here I go to discover the Emerald Isle. Most of the time I spent in the touristic, but nonetheless very pleasant city of Galway on the west coast. I worked in the Garveys Inn on the Eyre Square as a night receptionist (and sometimes a "night barman" too, when guests were too thirsty). As in any Irish pub, there was a lot of fun, even though one of the bosses had a fixed idea about my English being too poor, because I did not understand him (and only him). That was not very fair from his part, because his English was heavily marked by an accent somewhere perhaps from Sligo, which was completely unintelligible. Anyway, when I came again to Galway two years later while studying in Dublin, we met again and remembered those times only with a smile.
As if the nightshifts were not enough, I worked during the day as a web designer for the Golden Egg Productions. Not much time left for sleeping indeed. Anyways I managed at the same time to do plenty of nice walks along the beautiful promenade of Galway, visit regularly the Galway Cathedral, walk around the Lake Corrib and also have done couple of trips to Connemara and Aran Islands. At the very end, as the icing on the cake, I moved from Ireland to Northern Ireland and spent the last few days with my friends in Omagh (and thanks to Hugh also came to like the Guinness).
