2009-2012 France, Paris (PhD)
The sabbatical year has ended and I had to get back to do some serious work. Just before my departure to Madagascar I "peeped" to Paris and successfully passed the selection process, which provided me a scholarship for my doctorate in the LISSI laboratory in Université Paris-Est Créteil.
For the next three years the fun was assured. Artificial intelligence, robotics, human-robot interaction, intelligent signal processing, a pinch of psychology and cognitive science. During almost 40 months, under the direction of Professor Kurosh Madani and Dr. Christophe Sabourin, I made out of it a dozen of contributions to journals and conferences, a lot of interesting experiments with the Nao robot and finally the doctoral thesis. My colleagues and friends during this exciting work and life experience were Dr. Arash Bahrammirzaee (Iran), Dr. Ramón Moreno (Spain), Dr. Ivan Budnyk (Ukraine), Dr. Ting Wang (China), Jingyu Wang (China), Fabien Gautero (France) and others who have passed through the laboratory. Together we have had much fun both in the lab and outside. I cannot forget my friend Toky from Madagascar, who lived for some time in the same university quarters and who lent his voice to the recordings in my Malagasy dictionary.
