2009 South Pacific, New Caledonia
The last part of my Pacific adventure was waiting for me in New Caledonia. Brother Kapeliele, with whom I spent some time on Wallis, was there to pick me up. If the real Wild West has survived somewhere to these days, it is in New Caledonia. A huge piece of land, a few people spread on it, livestock, mining, "white men", Kanaks ... and beautiful nature. And brother Kapeliele has done everything possible to engrave this huge island deep into my memories. Noumea, La Foa, Bourail, Madeleine, Ouano. And also Goro Nickel mines. Well, many beautiful corners of the world have their dark corners too. A day trip to Ile des Pins was a nice experience, but the next day on Ouvea Lalo prepared me a much better one. One kind protestant pastor called Simona appeared out of nowhere, picked me up on the way and allowed me to spend a wonderful day with his family ... and he was much relieved to hear that I am Czech (even mentioned something about football) and not French. Better stay away from politics.
